15 VS1-A230 scopes, custom perimeters, 9' (2.75m) wide bays
The Epic Deep Space Exploration Headquarters in Verona, Wisconsin is a stunning architectural addition to the local landscape. The building is primarily an office and corporate headquarters, but will also serve as a space themed education center.
The building will feature 15 VS1 scopes built with VS1-A230 and the R8 mullion: 13 curtain walls, a pedestrian bridge, and a lobby wall. VS1-A230 is our direct glaze and SSG system, which removes the typical VS1 offset by glazing the mullion to the face glass with structural silicone, The R8 mullion (originally developed for the Irving Center at Dartmouth College project) is an 8” (203mm) rectangular profile.
The 7,000 square feet (650sq. m) of VS1 on this project integrate seamlessly with the surrounding mountainous exterior. The 13 curtain wall scopes have unique perimeter conditions that are achieved using our standard kit of parts. The maximum vertical span is 33’ (10m) high, and all modules are 9’ (2.75m) wide. The design team requested Innovation Glass integrate horizontal mullions in lieu of our traditional frameless horizontal butt joints, thereby achieving an aesthetic resembling a conventional curtain wall.
Innovation Glass is grateful for our continued partnership with the team at Harmon Inc, who have installed many VS1 curtain walls across the United States, and for our first time collaboration with project architect Cunningham and structural engineer Buro Happold.
