Loyola Information Commons

Architect: Solomon Cordwell Buenze
Location: Chicago, IL

Loyola University Information Commons on Lake Michigan is a visually delicate structure set between two stone bookends. Transparency of the digital library is achieved through the use of both curtain wall and stainless steel cable net glazing, resulting in clear open spans and minimal supporting structures. The layered facade of the Information Commons building at Loyola University provides a dynamic and transparent link between the campus and the dramatic shores of Lake Michigan.
